We are a UK wide commercial aerial distribution system installer.
The Integrated Reception System would include a TV aerial, FM and DAB aerials and Satellite dish which are then distributed normally via 2 coaxial cables from a Multiswitch head end to multiple end users. Cables normally terminate at a central TV point in the resident’s property giving them the capability for services such as Sky+ HD, Sky Q, Freesat, Freeview, DAB & FM radio all at one location
Hotels, apartments, schools, colleges, universities, halls of residence, hospitals, pubs usually require commercial aerial distributions systems in place to deliver TV and radio to many points, known as an IRS system or Integrated Reception System using a communal aerial and Satellite dish.
SMATV or Satellite Master Antenna TV. A SMATV Digital System delivers multiple TV channels including satellite broadcast signals to multiple outlets, a Satellite dish and TV aerial receive the broadcast signals, these signals are then fed through to a number of decoders housed in a rack at the head-end where they are combined into a programming format of your choice and distributed via a single cable signal over the network.
An IRS-SCR SKY Q Digital System is similar to the IRS system Satellite Channel Routing (SCR) technology has been developed to allow a single cable to be used, this is ideal for updating single feed systems, the existing satellite switches are replaced for SCR multi switches. Allowing the end user Sky+HD, Sky Q full record functionality down the single cable.
For commercial work we generally work with architects, building contractors and electricians to install aerials, satellite dishes, distribution and amplification equipment, cabling and end point equipment.
With many new homes/apartments having a Fibre data connection to the property, there is also the ability to deliver all your TV services over a fibre network.
A Fibre network can deliver TV services (Satellite Sky Q and Terrestrial TV as well as DAB radio) to over 10,000 homes from a single dish and aerial. For the developer this means no unsightly dishes or aerials during the selling and marketing of the properties.
A Fibre IRS (FIRS) is all about choice for the home owner, all the services you would expect to get free of charge are available, along with the option, at an additional charge, of Sky Subscription pay TV services.
A FIRS uses completely different technology to distribute the TV and Satellite signals over optical fibre. The advantage of FIRS is that it can operate over much longer distances and because of the higher bandwidth of fibre, it can ultimately provide more satellite services over a smaller cable.
More commonly, many new IRS’s are being designed as hybrid systems, utilising fibre for the backbone routes (taking advantage of the higher bandwidth and distance capability of fibre) but still using coax copper to the home.
We would normally design the IRS aerial distribution system, then work within the overall project to deliver it. We have full CHAS accreditation so Health and safety is important to us, we have full risk assessment documents available and all systems are installed in accordance with the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI) standards, using approved equipment.
First fix cabling can often be done by the electrical contractor to our plan, using the cable we specify.
We are very experienced in managing aerial systems for renovation work carried out by housing associations and councils, including replacement of old aerial distribution equipment.
Housing Associations, Councils
At Handley Aerials we are very experienced in aerial installation and managing the move of TV aerial and satellite dish systems during property renovation work carried out by housing associations and councils.
Tenants, occupiers and home owners, if still in residence during a property renovation project, will want an uninterrupted TV service. With our help this is possible by:
Temporary removal of TV aerials and satellite dishes, then fixing to scaffolding or other temporary structure
Refitting and setting up TV aerials and dishes after work is complete
Fitting new installations on existing properties including cabling, aerials and satellite dishes
Fitting distribution systems in renovated properties, important if a communal TV and audio service is to be provided.
All of our engineers carry Digital test meters and will check the signal strength to advise you what equipment will be required to give you the best reception.
